• AS 9000

AS9000 is a company level certification based on a standard published by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) titled "Aerospace Basic Quality System Standard". This standard has now been replaced by AS9100. The AS9000 standard includes the ISO9000 standard with additional requirements specific to the aerospace industry. Companies wishing to become certified will be evaluated against this standard.

This certification is for companies involved in the aerospace industry such as manufacturers and material suppliers. The standard gives guidelines on areas such as internal quality audit requirements and documenting and controlling company procedures.

Certifications are issued by third party certifying bodies. For an organization to maintain AS9000 certification, they will be subjected to annual or regularly scheduled audits where their compliance with the standard is evaluated by the certifying body.
