GWO certification is mandatory for anyone working in the wind and renewables sector both onshore and offshore. To obtain a certificate you need to complete all five elements of Initial entry GWO Basic Safety Training – Sea Survival Training, Fire Awareness Training, Manual Handling Training, First Aid Training, and Working at Height Training. You will receive your certificate on successful completion of all the training. This provides you with documentary evidence that confirms you possess the basic knowledge and competencies required to work in a safe manner in the wind and renewable sector.

The objective of GWO is to enable a common, industry-wide work practice that aims to reduce any safety and health issues for personnel working on a site. Any holder of a GWO certificate is considered competent and knowledgeable within Basic Safety in the wind industry.

GWO certification lasts for a period of two years, during which you will be subject to surveillance audits by your certification body to check the continuing quality and compliance of your service delivery.

The GWO Basic Safety Course (Global Wind Organisation) is an offshore course aimed at people working in the wind industry. Especially on an offshore wind turbine, there are no nearby emergency services.
