What is DOT/OSP/ISP License?
The Government of India has taken initiative for telecom-related services in India and came up with one license which is known as Unified License. Unified License Holder is eligible to apply for ISP license for different areas. For providing ISP services one has to obtain a Unified License. Therefore it has been cleared that there is a requirement of obtaining ISP authorization under the Unified License. A unified License holder is eligible to apply for multiple ISP authorizations of different areas. However, if we talk about the validity of the ISP authorizations then it will be valid up to the tenure of the Unified License.
Why this License is Required?
ISPs allow users access to networks that contain the required equipment, enabling users to establish Internet connectivity. ISPs are responsible for making sure you can access the Internet, routing Internet traffic, resolving domain names, and maintaining the network infrastructure that makes Internet access possible.

- Memorandum & Articles of Association
- Certificate of Incorporation issued by Registrar of Companies
- Resolution of The Board of Directors
- Power of Attorney duly notorised authorising the signatory with attested signature
- List of Present Directors of the company with Name, Address
- Present shareholding pattern of the company (indicating Indian Equity & Foreign Equity)
- Network diagram - the OSP must clearly mention in the diagram whether it is using Sharing of Infrastructure or Centralized EPABX architecture or the CUG facility. Any change in the network is also required to be intimated immediately by the OSP without any delay.
- If interconnection of either one international OSP centre (Company A) with another international OSP centre (Company B) of Group companies is required. If so, whether in case group companies the following documents have been submitted.
- Shareholding pattern of one international OSP centre (Company A).
- Shareholding pattern of another international OSP centre (Company B)
- Certificate from statutory Auditor of the company to certify that one international OSP centre (Company A) & another international OSP centre (Company B) are Group Companies
- Other supporting documents, if any like balance sheet, annual report etc. to establish that international OSP centre (company A) & another international OSP centre(company B) are Group Companies.
- If interconnection of either one domestic OSP centre (Company A) with another domestic OSP centre (Company B) of Group companies the following documents have been submitted.
- Shareholding pattern of one domestic OSP centre (Company A)
- Shareholding pattern of another domestic OSP centre (Company B)
- Certificate from statutory Auditor of the company to certify that one domestic OSP centre (Company A) & another domestic OSP centre (Company B) are Group Companies
- Other supporting documents, if any like balance sheet, annual report etc. to establish that domestic OSP centre (company A) & another domestic OSP centre(company B) are Group Companies
- Other supporting documents, if any like balance sheet, annual report etc. to establish that company A & company B are Group Companies
- Any Other documents required after Application.
